Dr. Sol Gordon

Short Biography

                 

  • Sol Gordon received his B.A. and M.S. from the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of London (1953). He served as Chief Psychologist at the Philadelphia Child Guidance and the Middlesex County Mental Health Clinics.  Dr Gordon taught at Yeshiva University (1965-69) and Syracuse University where he was Professor of Child and Family Studies and Founding Director of the Institute for Family Research and Education (1970 to 1985).  Dr. Gordon is Professor Emeritus, with a distinguished career as a clinical psychologist and sex educator and the recipient of many scholarly awards. He has written over one hundred articles for professional publications and has also authored numerous books. Dr. Gordon upon his retirement from Syracuse University was a fellow of the APA, and a member of the National Council of Family Relations and American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists.  He has lectured in every state in the United States as well as internationally in Australia, Japan, Sweden, Denmark, England, Israel, Germany, Thailand and other countries.
